Jake Walkley's Dairy Upgrade
Christopher Dairy Bails Installation
The team at Future Dairies Gippsland have just completed a major dairy upgrade at Jake Walkley’s farm at Newry. The milking area in the old dairy was completely gutted prior to extensive renovations being completed to extend the pit, widen the cow platforms, and install updated milking equipment with GEA automatic cup removers. The dairy is now a 16 double-up with 32 milking positions. Jake also decided to install new Christopher Dairy Bails in his dairy. The Christopher Dairy Bails are sequentially operated, so cows aren’t able to reach their feed ration until they make their way up to the next available bail position. This feature greatly assists with cow flow into the dairy. The bails also drop down out of the way while the cows exit the dairy, allowing optimum cow flow. The whole bail system, including the entry & exit gates are water operated, providing quiet operation and low maintenance costs.
